Rinn Network
Where great minds meet great purpose
The Rinn network, launched in June 2026, has been established to address the key challenges and opportunities of our time through excellence in research and innovation – igniting the next generation of positive societal, economic and environmental transformation for Ireland and the world.

The Rinn network enables a systemic and strategic approach that aims to deliver solutions with real-world impact. Rinn empowers radical collaboration that operates across multiple research bodies in partnership with industry, government and wider stakeholders to create a unique research and innovation ecosystem of international significance and scale.
Rinn will advance research and innovation in the key areas of advanced therapies, artificial intelligence, energy, medical devices, pharma & biopharma, quantum and semiconductors operating as a constellation that defines Ireland’s unique strengths.
Rinn Advanced Therapies: Research & Innovation in Personalised Immune Cell Therapeutics
Rinn Advanced Therapies is focused on the development and manufacturing of personalised advanced cellular immune therapeutics (ACITs). Rinn Advanced Therapies is patient, and society, focused and addresses these challenges by enabling ‘personalised quality by design’ – delivering the right therapy, at the right dose, to the right patient, at the right time.
Rinn Artificial Intelligence: Research & Innovation in Data Science and AI
Rinn Artificial Intelligence is designed to serve as a national hub for research and innovation in data science and AI. The programme has two overarching goals: (i) to advance foundational cutting-edge research in Data Science and AI, and (ii) to pursue open, international, and inter- and transdisciplinary research aimed at studying, designing, and implementing strategies to address societal challenges.
Rinn Energy: Research & Innovation in Energy System Decarbonisation
Rinn Energy will drive energy system decarbonisation by delivering an ambitious, world-leading, and scientifically excellent research programme. It consolidates expertise from ten institutions and integrates expertise across science, engineering, economics, policy, and social sciences to take a whole system approach from renewable energy supply and smart grids to end-use in transport, industry, and communities.
Rinn Medical Devices: Research & Innovation in Medical Devices
Rinn Medical Devices is focused on supporting healthy ageing by developing medical device innovations that tackle the chronic conditions most likely to affect people as they age, from heart and kidney disease to neurological conditions, cancer, and beyond. At every step, patient voices, experiences, and priorities shape what we do and how we do it, ensuring that the devices we develop are not just scientifically sound, but genuinely meaningful to the people they're designed to help.
Rinn Pharma & Biopharma: Research & Innovation in Making Medicines
Rinn Pharma & Biopharma’s transdisciplinary research programme focuses on two core challenges in drug development. The first: creation of patient-centred medicines that meet the needs of diverse patient groups, including the development and manufacture of complex formulations that improve drug effectiveness, acceptability, and dosing. The second: integration of sustainability into all stages of drug development and manufacturing, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of pharmaceutical processes such as synthesis, formulation, and bioprocessing. Rinn Pharma & Biopharma will build the scientific foundation, talent pipeline, and collaborative community needed to address these challenges.
Rinn Quantum: Research & Innovation in Quantum Information Science and Technology
Rinn Quantum aims to establish Ireland as a global leader in quantum science. Rinn Quantum will bridge fundamental research and real-world applications, addressing challenges in secure communication, future materials, and sustainable quantum technologies. Through strong academic–industry partnerships and alignment with national and EU strategies, the Rinn Quantum will accelerate innovation, train Ireland’s quantum workforce, and foster public engagement, positioning the country at the forefront of the second quantum revolution.
Rinn Semiconductors: Research & Innovation in Heterogeneously Integrated Semiconductor Systems
Rinn Semiconductors aims to lead Ireland’s response to the point where traditional improvements in computer chips slows down or ends, by pioneering modular integrated circuit-based (chiplet-based) semiconductor design and integration. The Rinn Semiconductors team propose to enable transformative advances in these technologies and to apply them in three main application areas: Future Internet, Sustainable Energy and Environment, and Digital Healthcare.
