Project Summary
AI is transforming young people’s lives, but education systems are playing catch up. Educators don’t fully understand AI or how to use AI in their work. Education barriers contribute to under-representation of groups of young people and block a channel of diverse values and ideas to the technology, critical for AI to benefit everyone.
The goal of this programme is to embed AI knowledge and skills in the learning approach of schools and youth services. Inclusion focused, the programme aims to enhance the capacity of teachers and youth workers to support young people in marginalised communities, raise their awareness of AI, develop an understanding of AI skills, spark further learning and career pathways to address diversity gaps in AI development.
The programme will localise existing Experience AI content and develop further strands that advance knowledge and translate content to Irish:
Goals:
Co-create and scale an AI programme with educators and young people in formal and non-formal education nationally.
Using Kinia’s online Academy: build a community to collaborate, share ideas and best practices.
Through Kinia’s Creative Technology Week: award young people for outstanding AI projects with the creation of a new Experience AI award.
Development and rollout of AI training content and resources, building on the Experience AI content
Develop AI training content and resources in English and Irish for 8-16 year old age range
Provide Raspberry Pi kits to educators and young people to activate AI skills and knowledge.
